Trailer net orders rose 26 percent month over month and 3.5 percent year over year, according to the most recent State of the Industry: U.S. Trailers published by ACT Research Co.
“Large fleets continue to drive the market, and low cancellations show that orders are firm,” said Frank Maly, director of commercial vehicle transportation analysis and research at ACT.
“Trailer production was up 4 percent year over year. The industry continues to see a rebound in factory inventory after a strong year-end drawdown, Inventory was up 13 percent month over month and 8 percent year over year.
“Comments regarding some pressure at the dealer level continue to be heard,” said Maly, adding that normal seasonal patterns indicate some further inventory gains in March.
