TravelCenters of America, operator of the TA and Petro Stopping Centers travel center brands, recently presented a check for $278,095 to the St. Christopher Truckers Development and Relief Fund (SCF).
By rallying customers and employees around the single cause of helping professional drivers who are suffering financial hardship due to medical problems, TravelCenters has worked to help raise more than $2 million since 2010 for the fund.
The “Band Together for SCF” campaign, which ran during August at 238 TA and Petro Stopping Centers locations nationwide, invited customers and employees to make $1 and $5 donations. One hundred percent of all donations go to the SCF.
“We always look forward to our SCF Band Together campaign, knowing that our yearly contribution goes to helping so many drivers in need. I want to personally thank each and every customer and employee that generously contributed this year,” said Tom O’Brien, president and CEO of TravelCenters. “We, along with so many professional drivers and their families, are grateful for the SCF. Because of what they do, drivers are able to focus on getting healthy, feeling better and living longer,” he continued.
“Once again, TravelCenters of America, their employees and their customers have come through for professional drivers,” said Dr. Donna Kennedy, executive director of the SCF. “We feel blessed to be in a position to receive such generous donations; they will go a long way in helping drivers in need. Thanks to this support, more than 1,600 drivers have been assisted,” she continued.
