Ryder Brings Trucking Expertise to Back 2015 Special Olympics World Games

Ryder System is a bronze champion sponsor of the Special Olympics World Games, the global movement that unleashes the human spirit through the transformative power and joy of sports.

The Special Olympics World Games, underway now through Sunday throughout Los Angeles, Calif., will utilize Ryder vehicles, including specialized trucks and vans, to safely transport event-related materials. The vehicles will be used to move sports and competitive equipment, ranging from soccer balls, goal posts, bicycles, saddles, golf clubs, and even buoys and kayaks for aquatic competitions.

“Ryder’s support of the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles is a testament to the company’s long history of charitable activity and community outreach,” said Richard Mohr, vice president of Ryder Rental Operations. “Giving back in the communities where we work and live is an inherent part of our culture at Ryder and we are proud to support the Special Olympics World Games by donating vehicles and providing funding for such a great cause.”

With 6,500 athletes and 2,000 coaches representing 165 countries, more than 500,000 spectators are anticipated to attend the World Games. Competition events are free and open to the public.
