Ryder is refreshing its rental fleet with 400 new Euro 6 tractor units together with 350 new trailers, reflecting the company’s commitment to maintaining one of the most modern and versatile rental fleets in the United Kingdom.
The company’s heavyweight range is enhanced with new Euro 6 high-specification, big cab 6×2 tractor units from DAF, Mercedes, MAN and Iveco, with telematics capability as standard. The company’s latest investment also includes 200 curtainside trailers, 100 reefer trailers, and 50 box trailers.
David Hunt, vice president and managing director for Ryder Europe, said, “Our continuing investment in new vehicles and trailers underlines Ryder’s ongoing commitment to providing greater choice and value for our customers. This latest investment in new assets will endow Ryder with one of the largest and most comprehensive Euro 6 fleets in the country, enabling our rental customers to have access to the benefits of this new technology.”
This year’s investment in new assets follows the company’s multi million pound purchase of nearly 1,000 Euro 5 derogated vehicles in 2014.
Ryder maintains one of the largest and youngest HGV rental fleets in the UK with this year’s investment in new vehicles ensuring that the average age of rental trucks remains at 24 months.
Ryder Europe was established in 1971 and has grown through acquisition and organic development into a sizeable force in transportation with a fleet of more than 22,500 trucks and trailers. The European business focuses on commercial vehicle rental, contract hire and maintenance operating from 29 locations with dedicated delivery solutions operating across a further 23 locations.
