Hendrickson Truck Commercial Vehicle Systems has launched its Softek NXT integrated monoleaf suspension and steer axle system as an option on both Peterbilt 579 and 567 set forward axle models.

Softek NXT is the next generation of Hendrickson’s road proven, weight-saving Softek monoleaf suspension and steer axle system.

Softek NXT combines the Steertek NXT axle and monoleaf spring technology with an advanced integrated clamp group design. Setting the benchmark for lightweight front-end systems, Softek NXT saves more than 100 pounds compared to a traditional two-leaf spring and I-beam axle system.

The integrated system is specifically designed for Peterbilt vehicles to help improve ride quality and durability with ease of maintenance.

“Our launch with Peterbilt showcases our combined initiatives in advanced component integration,” said Gerry Remus, director of marketing for Hendrickson Truck Commercial Vehicle Systems.

Softek NXT highlights integrated clamp group and monoleaf spring designs that are key design features for enhanced ride and handling characteristics. Its patented clamp group design also provides greater weight savings and reduced part count compared to previous designs.

The Steertek NXT axle’s patented two-piece knuckle assembly simplifies kingpin bushing serviceability and includes a new double lip seal to further improve bushing life, exhibiting Hendrickson’s commitment to maintenance efficiency. In addition, integrated steering arm and tie rod attachments increase strength and further reduce weight. This provides greater durability and helps to reduce maintenance costs.

“Peterbilt’s dedication to driver uptime solutions is well-matched with Hendrickson’s determination to integrate purposeful customer solutions with high quality products,” said Robert Woodall, Peterbilt’s assistant general manager of sales and marketing. “The higher reliability of Softek NXT design will lessen our customers’ service times, therefore increasing uptime.”

Available now in a 12,500-pound capacity rating, Softek NXT is approved for on-highway applications and will soon be available in a 13,200-pound capacity.
