The price for a gallon of diesel fuel rose an average 6.4 cents per gallon last week, after fluctuated in regions across the country the week before. Prices averaged $2.556 per gallon nationwide, which is $1.142 per gallon less expensive than a year ago at this time.
Increases ranged from a scant .02 cents per gallon in the New England states to 14.5 cents per gallon in the Midwest, according to figures released this week by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).

New England: $2.576 last week, $2.578 this week
Central Atlantic: $2.631 last week, $2.661 this week
Lower Atlantic: $2.432 last week, $2.469 this week
Midwest: $2.489 last week, $2.634 this week
Gulf Coast: $2.323 last week, $2.339 this week
Rocky Mountains: $2.501 last week, $2.516 this week
California: $2.803 last week, $2.833 this week.
