Con-way Freight, the less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier and subsidiary of Con-way Inc., announced that Jill A. Bixby has been promoted to vice president of western area sales.

A 17-year Con-way veteran, Bixby began her career with the company in 1998 as a customer service representative. She most recently served as director of sales, with responsibility for sales activities in the Pacific Northwest.

In her new role, she oversees sales for Con-way Freight’s western area, which includes the 11 states in the western U.S., as well as North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Texas. Leading a team of more than 130 sales professionals, her responsibilities as the region’s sales leader will include pricing and sales strategies, as well as staffing, performance management, customer acquisition, sales training and personnel development. Based in Portland, Ore., she reports to Stephen F. Dean, senior vice president of sales for Con-way Freight.

“Jill is an excellent complement to our executive team,” said Dean. “She is a seasoned sales professional whose insight and experience will provide strong leadership and development for our sales efforts in the Western Area. I’m pleased to congratulate Jill on this significant career milestone and look forward to her contributions.”

Bixby’s career at Con-way has spanned several roles of increasing responsibility. She is a five-time recipient of Con-way Freight’s Quarterly Leadership Award, a two-time recipient of Sales Director of the Year honors and a past recipient of Con-way Freight’s President’s Award — one of the company’s highest accolades, which recognize employees for exemplary leadership and performance.
