Used Class 8 truck same-dealer sales volumes ended their upward trend in April, while year-to-date volumes fell for a fourth consecutive month, according to the latest release of the State of the Industry: U.S. Classes 3-8 Used Trucks, published by ACT Research.

“April Class 8 used truck volumes fell by 3 percent month over month and year over year, ending their upward trek, while year-to-date declines continued for a fourth consecutive month, down 4 percent from April 2015,” said Steve Tam, ACT’s vice president of the commercial vehicle sector. “Dealers are reporting that used truck sales remain below 2015 levels and inventories have risen, while used truck prices continue to drop. The average price of used Class 8 trucks improved by 4 percent month over month during the same period, but remained 8 percent lower when compared to April of 2015.”
