Western Star Truck Sales has made its new 4700 set-back (SB) all-wheel drive (AWD) truck available to order, offering customers a lightweight commercial truck that is ideal for construction and utility applications that require rugged, off-road traction. The new Western Star 4700SB AWD, highlighted by a Terex Utilities Digger Derrick, also features a 110-inch bumper-to-back-of-cab, which is the shortest in its class, and a 42-degree wheel cut that provides excellent maneuverability on tight job sites.

This new truck is engineered with premium, lightweight components that are so important to face the rigors of vocational applications. That includes 16,000-pound front axles and 40,000-pound rears. It can be spec’d with a half-inch, 3.2-million RBM (Resisting Bending Moment) single channel frame rail option that further reduces truck weight while providing long-term durability in corrosive work environments.

Powered by a Cummins ISL engine, the 4700SB AWD features up to 380 horsepower and 1,300 pounds-feet of torque, in addition to an Allison 3000-series transmission. It can be spec’d with front power take-off (FEPTO) or rear power take off (REPTO), suited for a wide range of auxiliary applications.

In addition, the 4700SB AWD features Western Star’s body builder-friendly design for ease of upfit and reduced body installation time. The 4700SB AWD joins Western Star’s 4800 and 4900 all-wheel drive models, providing a full range of rugged product solutions for the toughest applications and terrains.
