The New Year started out for Webb Wheel when the OEM established its own independent business that will focus exclusively on the needs of the specialty commercial truck and vocational markets.

The new Specialty Truck Business Unit was launched with TS16949:2009 quality certification in place as well as established partnerships with industry leading truck manufacturers, according to the OEM.

It will continue operations out if its current facility in Ferdinand, Ind., and will take advantage of Webb’s expertise in engineering to introduce additional rotor, hub and drum products designed for the specific needs of the specialty and vocational equipment operators and OEMs.

Webb said the new focused business unit, along with dedicated sales and service support for this unique market, as well as the resources available as a business of Marmon Highway Technologies, will result in significant solutions-oriented wheel end products for these specific applications.

Specialty Truck Business Unit will be led by Adam Wiechmann who has been with Webb since 2008. He previously worked in Research and Development in Cullman, Ala., before moving to Tell City, Ind., when he joined the Webb Wheel OEM team managing the engineering and quality groups.

Most recently he served as director of engineering and quality for that company. Prior to joining Webb, Wiechmann held various chassis engineering positions at General Motors with focus in test, product design, and brake development on multiple truck programs.

Webb Wheel Products Inc., headquartered in Cullman, Ala., manufactures hubs, brake drums and rotors for medium- and heavy- duty trucks, trailers and buses.
