Trucking News Online Produces Pre-filter for Volvo VNL Series

Traditional air filters have a large surface area and can cover the entire filter without restricting airflow. The company says it is seeing new high-flow air filters with less surface area, so instead of covering a small area on the filter, the new filter is catching the large debris before it gets to the filter and extending air filter life.

The pre-filters are designed to keep out larger particles of debris such as grain chaff, rubber, dirt and sand from getting into and clogging the air filter elements. They are constructed of a proprietary polyester mesh with uniform micron openings and treated with a hydrophobic water repellant process.

Premature clogging of an air filter will result in loss of horsepower and an increase in service intervals. These pre-filters are uniquely designed to protect a truck’s engine and performance air filter without sacrificing airflow or horsepower. Even in harsh conditions, including heavy moisture, a pre-filter will enhance the filter’s ability to continue flow the necessary air required for maximum performance.
